As the September 6 deadline nears, Three Towns residents are being asked to nominate local healthcare heroes for an accolade at the Scottish Health Awards 2013.
A spokesperson for NHS Scotland said, “Hundreds of nominations have already been received from across Scotland but many more worthy healthcare teams and top professionals are yet to be recognised for their dedication to providing outstanding patient care.”
With the NHS in Scotland helping more than 150,000 Scots every day, judges are looking for the country’s finest NHS workers and volunteers from across every area of healthcare, including therapists, GPs, specialist carers or volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Last year, the Orthopaedic Rapid Recovery Team at Crosshouse Hospital won the Top Team Award. There are 16 award categories, including for nurses, volunteers, Top Team and Doctors.
John Burns, Chief Executive of NHS Ayrshire & Arran, said, “Our staff often do more than is expected of them. They don’t do this for the recognition, but to ensure the people of Ayrshire and Arran have the healthiest life possible. These awards give you the chance to thank the many people who look after you.
“Make sure you take the opportunity to nominate your healthcare hero and give them the recognition they deserve.”
The nominations will culminate in a prestigious award ceremony on November 7 at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh.
