Ardrossan-based Cunninghame Housing Association has won a Gold Award for delivering ‘Healthy Working Lives’.
Businesses from across Ayrshire took part in an initiative organised by NHS Ayrshire & Arran, which seeks to find ‘healthy workplaces’. Winners recently received their awards at a ceremony in Troon’s Marine Hotel.
Members of NHS Ayrshire & Arran's Healthy Working Lives team highlighted the importance of considering health in workplace settings and gave suggestions on how employers can address health inequalities. Cunninghame Housing Association also showcased the work they did to achieve their Healthy Working Lives Gold Award.
Elaine Young, Senior Manager with NHS Ayrshire & Arran's Public Health Department, explained how the initiative works, “The Healthy Working Lives programme supports employers and employees to develop healthier lifestyles in the workplace in a practical, logical way that benefits not only staff members and the companies themselves, but the wider community, too. Something as simple as integrating physical activity into the workplace can provide huge benefits to everyone involved.”
In addition to Cunninghame Housing Association’s Gold Award, EDF Energy (Hunterston ‘B’ Power Station) took home Bronze and Silver Awards.
