Provost's Civic Pride Awards 2014

Nominations for the 2014 Provost’s Civic Pride Awards close at mid-day on January 30th.

There are five award categories, all related to people or groups who have made a positive contribution and promoted or demonstrated civic pride in the district:

  • North Ayrshire Community Group Award - sponsored by Irvine Housing Association.
  • North Ayrshire Citizen of the Year Award - sponsored by Marley Contract Services Ltd.
  • North Ayrshire Young Citizen of the Year (Under 25 years) - sponsored by Cunninghame Housing Association.
  • North Ayrshire Arts & Culture Award - sponsored by ANCHO.
  • North Ayrshire Sports Award - sponsored by K:A Leisure.

Further details relating to the criteria of awards is available on North Ayrshire Council’s Civic Pride Awards web-page.  Nominations can also be submitted online or by completing a nomination form, which are available from libraries, community centres and Council area offices.  Completed forms should be sent to: Communications Team, Chief Executive’s Service, North Ayrshire Council, Cunninghame House, Irvine KA12 8EE.

The five awards will be presented at the Provost’s Civic Awards Charity Dinner on Friday, March 21, which will be held in the Seamill Hydro.  All proceeds from the fundraising night will be shared between The Ayrshire Hospice and Cash for Kids.  Every year generous local businesses contribute to the event and to charity funds by taking tables at the dinner, donating auction prizes or sponsoring awards.

Provost Joan Sturgeon said, “We all know people who don't quite realise how far their efforts go in helping others or the valid contribution they make to their communities.  They tend to work quietly away in the background without seeking any reward or any acclaim. These are our real heroes.”

Local businesses and organisations who wish to book a table, sponsor a Civic Pride Award, donate a prize for the auction or lend their support in any way should contact the Corporate Communications Team at North Ayrshire Council on 01294 324137.
