Shocking incident at South Beach Station

Transport Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who brandished a knife at a group of youngsters waiting for a train at Ardrossan’s South Beach Station.

The incident happened at around 10.30pm last Friday (November 28).  Eight young people – aged between 13 and 15 – ran from the station when the man produced the knife and gestured towards them.

Police say the suspect was wearing a grey hooded-top, grey jogging trousers, a black sleeveless tank top style sweater and white trainers.  He was last seen leaving the station with another man, who was wearing a white and blue tracksuit top, blue jogging trousers with white stripes, and black and white trainers.

Detective Constable Javwaad Rai of the Transport Police said, “This was a frightening experience for all the young people involved.

“I am anxious to speak with anyone who was at the station and can help identify the man responsible and I ask them to come forward.”

The Transport Police can be contacted on 0800 40 50 40.
