The 32-year-old man arrested yesterday (September 15) in relation to the murder of Saltcoats-man Malky Ballantyne has been named as James Lee Nolan.
Mr Ballantyne’s body was found by a family member at his Glebe Place home on August 21. The 72-year-old has last been seen the previous day at a pub in Stevenston.
Nolan appeared today (September 16) at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, charged with murder and two counts of theft. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody to appear again next week.
